Computer restarts after POST

Hello,

The night before shutdown was smooth, nothing strange. In the morning computer boots to Windows logo and then restarts. Odd, I was able to get into safe mode and remote desktop to the system. I re-installed my video drivers, nothing. I took out my video card cleaned it, nothing. After doing that, it doesn't even show the windows logo... wont boot in safe mode. Just restarts.

I tried my friends videocard, same result.
I unplug everything except HDD, same result.
Switch RAM slots, same result.

Tried Ubuntu Live CD, booted up fine, everything worked. So now I think its just Windows itself.

Suggestions? Comments?

I have nothing useful to add, but maybe this is a sign to switch fulltime to linux 😀

Try reinstalling windows... something might have been corrupt.

I had this problem, and it turned out a damaged CPU was the culprit.

I would start by reinstalling Windows, though.

Sure enough a fresh install did it trick. Still don't understand why and how it happened.
