computer restarting itself

Does anyone have an explanation of what's causing a pc to restart itself (under win98 and 2000)? Sometimes it doesn't boot up after restarting and sometimes it freezes while booting up. Thanks.
 
I had a similar problem with my box.... I replaced my power supply (with another cheap generic) and now all works well... You cangive that a try.
