my computer don't start up anymore. when i plug in the powercord, the system would turn on by itself, the hp logo displays for maybe 2 seconds and the system turns off. when i press the power button, the system wouldn't turn on. i will need to disconnect the power corn again, wait till the capacitor light discharges, then plug in the powercord again to get the same respond.... what is wrong here?

Maybe the electrical switch behind the power button is stuck in the held-down position. If that were the case, then the motherboard would go "oh, he's holding the power button down! That means I'm supposed to shut down." and it would shut down. It would also explain why the computer powers up as soon as you plug it into the wall.

To test that, remove the bezel of the computer and fidget with the power switch that the Power button actuates. If necessary, trace its wire to the motherboard, unplug it from the motherboard, then plug the computer in.

If it does not power right up when you plug the computer in, that's good. Tickle the pins that the switch was plugged into with a metal object to send a power-up signal to the motherboard, and see if it stays running now.
