computer reboots during games

while i'm playing everquest 2.. sometimes my computer will just up and reboot all on its own. It does not happen too often, maybe once a day or 2. About a couple times per week the screen will also just lock up, wont respond at all, cant get ask manager up, nothing, but i can still hear my guild on ventrillo talking and talk back, have to end up rebooting on that. This only happens while playing eq2 tho, never any other time, not on any other games. Not sure what it could be, but this actually started the night my guild switched to Ventrillo. Anyone have any suggentions on how to fix this maybe?

if it seems to have started after switchin to ventrillo, try playing for a day or 2 with that program off and see if the same things happens
it it happens check for updates to both the program and your sound drivers as well

Auto-reboots are often a symptom of overheating - and that can be cause by the scenario you painted. That particular combo of events can be causing greater stress, ergo, heat, on your system's CPU.

This might sound odd but try using a different sound card. If you're using a discrete solution (a separate card) use on board sound, vice versa. Also try using a different PCI slot.

I'm wondering if it's an IRQ conflict.

well.. I tried gettin new drivers for my sound card first.. was already usin the newest ventrillo version.. and.. so far.. seems to have worked.. been runnin a couple days now and not 1 problem.. hopefully it stays this way.. if not i'll start doin the next most lazy thing in the list... heh... thx guys
