Computer rebooting during windows boot

I just built a HTPC that is hooked up to my plasma with an DVI to HDMI out cable.

Everything was running fine for about two weeks.

Yesterday I tried to install a new fan controller to control 2 case fans and the gpu fan. After getting it all connected and trying to boot it up, it goes to the windows loading screen with the progress bar for about 5 seconds and then reboots. However, it doesn't just reboot and start again, it goes through a constant reboot cycle where BIOS doesn't even load. I don't see anything on the screen but I can hear the components rebooting over and over again.

Booting in safe mode works fine.

The things that are weird to me is that if its a windows problem, booting to last known good config doesn't work. Also, the constant cycle of rebooting without POSTing is weird.

Any suggestions on what I can do to debug or fix the problem? Maybe I can fix something in safe mode or boot to the windows cd to do something funky.

Components:
DFI 250gb UT mobo(754)
athlon 3400+
512GB ram
BFG Geforce 6800 GT

I suggest you undo what you did...get it back to it's original hardware configuration. See if it will still work as it once did.

If you can get it back to working again...try adding back the hardware and see if it works still.

If you can't get it to work no matter the configuration...start swapping out parts one by one until you find the issue.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I did try that. It was the first thing I did. I replugged all the fans back the way they were and took out the fan controller.

What do you mean the BIOS won't even load, but you can boot in safe mode? How can you get to the safe mode screen if the BIOS won't load? 😕

Either way, repair install =.

Repair install is your friend.

I think I will give the repair install a try.

I mean, after it goes through the boot process the first time and gets to the windows part, it reboots continuously.

Go into windows in safe mode, remove any drivers or software you changed/update/installed recently, and reinstall them.
