Ok just built this computer not much in the way of programs installed or anything.

Windows Xp Pro
motherboard MSI NF2 K7N2 Delta2-LSR
processor Amd Sempron 1.66ghz
Ram 512 Mushkin 3200
HD 80GB seagate Baracuda SATA
Nec dvd writer, 3520a
modem encore
floppy nec
Video, had Ati 8500, switched to Ati 9200se after problem started
Power Supply, 380w came on Raidmax Case

Basically it will restart and the stop code changes almost everytime, but usually indicated a GDI error or Registry error. When installing windows, everytime it cant find some files. I have tried pretty much everything i can think of maybe someone on here can help me out. Thanks, Have Run windiag and indicates no errors on memory

When you say "everytime it cant find files" what do you mean? During which part of the installation? Does it fail to copy some files from the installation CD when installing Windows?

have you finished installing the OS? is it giving you this error during the OS Install?

If So, then do you have a legitimate copy of Windows XP?

Also, if you've finished installing the OS, and it is restarting while you're using the
computer or running programs, that might mean you hav a puny Power supply.
you may need to upgrade your PSU to one that puts out more Wattage.

Give us more info. 🙂

Before I consider a power supply, I'd consider it a potential RAM issue.

Do you have another stick somewhere that you can try? Mushkin is good, but not infallible.

You may be missing some core files that you skipped during the install process. If that's the case, you'll need to get yourself another windows install CD, legally of course 😉

I am having the same problem. I got the board from Newegg a few days ago and ever since then, I've been trying to install an OS on it. I have tried attaching a HD that I removed from a working system with WIN98SE on it, and it wouldn't go through the reinitialization of the hardware without freezing, rebooting or giving some random error. Upon reboot, it would go through the disk-checking ..then splash screen..then freeze or another reboot. It then tried Windows Millenium HD with Windows ME preinstalled...same thing. I finally installed Windows 98SE after going through the various reboots, and crap then tried to upgrade to Windows XP and have yet to finalize that jump.
I am using generic PC3200 memory that was working fine on another machine, Barton 2500+, and Seagate 120 SATA drive. I had OC'ed the FSB to 200 to get the Barton to 3200+ which was working fine on another MB, with the same memory, but lowered it to it's base 2500(166X11) but still couldn't get XP installed. I finally lowered it to 1100Mhz (100X11) just to see if I can install XP, but don't know if it installed since I left it copying installation files.
