my computer has progressively gotten worse such that i cannot get into windows. my computer will reset itself randomly. at first, it would be during opening or simply using high graphic demanding applications like counterstrike or using my tv tuner. but it got worse such that i coulnd't open internet explorer and such. then, it would sometimes reset when the window's load up screen appears and now it pretty much resets all the time during bootup. i tried flashing my bios, but i still have the same problem. i even tried to reinstall my windows xp, but it will reset in the middle of it. is this a hardware problem? i don't think anything is overheating, since i have 4 fans inside. i'm running an athlon 1900, w512 ddr, epox 8k71 mobo, gf4 ti4200. has anyone ever had this problem or has heard of it or can give me some tips how to fix this error?

AT FAQs is always the first place to start and this will help if your running one of the OS's mentioned. I'd start with swapping ram or trying one stick at a time if you have multiple sticks then try a different PSU if the ram checks out. You can run memtest86 on the ram too but I find it doesn't find all flaws and the time it requires is a major negative to using it for me.

I have this same problem, though mine usually just freezes up and won't load windows when it restarts, when I finally get it to load to desktop it reboots after a minute or two, I did diagnostic checks on my HDD's and RAM and all is good, Only think I can think is it's the PSU, which I hope to god it is as I have a new one being shipped to me. I will let you know if a new PSU fixes the problem. Should get it tomorrow.

hmm....i think i kinda fixed it. i had two slots for ddr memory. i switched my 512 ddr to the other slot, which caused a cmos error during bootup, but i continued anyways and my computer is running fine throughout windows now. i'm thinking that there was something to do with the memory slot. but i'm not sure. thanks for the help everyone though. someone did suggest to me that it might be a psu problem. let me know if that fixes your problem because if the problem reoccurs, then i might get a new psu.
