Computer randomly loses internet

Seems to only happen on my computer. My computer is RJ45'd to the router securely. However, randomly, it just loses connection.

It loses connection meaning attempting to surf the internet in Firefox or IE just makes it go on perpetually trying to connect. But, everything else works. Xfire and AIM are still logged on and are able to receive/send messages, BitTorrent is still downloading, PS3 is still downloading demos, etc. Additionally, the rest of the computers on the same router are perfectly fine.

There is also no XP indication that a connection has been lost. Which, technically, a connection hasn't been lost since BT, Xfire, and AIM are all still working perfectly.

What could be wrong?

May be you should try to see if it loses the connection when BT, Xfire, AIM, PS3 and the rest of the "Guzzlers" are Off and not working.

A bandwidth limited to my own computer, maybe.

But the other computers and laptops on the same router connect to the internet fine.

Oh I forgot to mention. If I restart the computer, internet "comes back".

My first instinct here is spyware/malware doing something to your http traffic. Download and run Hijackthis and post what all it detects and I can probably help you fix it.

Sometimes reinstalling the TCP/IP stack fixes problems like this but not for long if it was damaged by some malware on your computer.

Edit: Hijackthis is safe to run as a scan, but if you remove stuff willy nilly it might cause some undesired side effects on your computer so i'd recommend not letting it fix anything until you know what they are.
