My computer has been randomly hanging up for the last 3 weeks, and I still haven't found out the problem. Let me explain. I can be doing anything (playing a game or just reading AT forums) and the application suddenly freezes. The mouse is still moving though, and the MP3's continue to play. I try to push on buttons (such as the "start" button), and nothing happens (CTRL+ALT+Del does nothing). Suddenly, the mouse freeze, but the MP3 still continue to play normally.

When this happen (the first application hangs), the CPU begins to work at 100%, like if it was running an infinite loop. When the mouse has hanged, I have no choice but to reboot the computer (using the power switch).

I'm running Win2K, and I think it can be related to the OS more than the hardware (since it only began doing this a few weeks ago and the freezes are more and more frequent).

Anyway, does someone knows solution?

could be bad RAM
Just use one stick of tested good RAM and see if the problem goes away.

still doesn't work, change the hard drive with other OS.

Thanx, I'll try it. (I actually had solved the problem by swicthing my AGP port to 2x and disabling fastwrites). Well, I'll try the new driver.

yea, I remember my system was much more stable after i used AGP 2x with 23.11 driver. With that i only experienced a lockup once in a week, and it was after 64 hour or so...

with 28.32 i had no lock up since i installed it until now (using AGP 4x). tried to run it once for more than 3 days and the system is still rock stable. also, there are some new nice feature like transprent windows, etc (nview)

overall, i like the newest driver =)
