My friend has an FTP setup for his family to share / store photos through his DSL connection. His IP changes almost daily and he doesn't wanna pay another $99/year or something like that for a static address from the provider. Any way you can setup a webpage or something simple to 'broadcast' you IP address for others to check? What about dynip or whatever that feature is, how does that work?

Thx

There is an application they you install on the server. When the external IP address changes the client software updates.

You can select from a number of domain names. So if you pick "myftpsite.dyndns.org" this will be how you access the ftp site from now on. No matter how many times the external IP address changes you can always access the ftp from that address.

A great free service/solution IMO.
