sorry i know this is the wrong forum but i need a quick answer... i am settin up a computer and i have the cables but they must be set up wrong because it says Floppy disk fail (40) and Primary master hard disk fail... is there anyway to know which cables are supposed to go where?

Just unplug them and turn them around.

The hard drive cable should not matter. Perhaps you need to set your hard drive to master. Also check your bios settings and make sure those drives are enabled etc in the bios.

well, if the floppy cable is wrong, it just won't detect, but a FAIL notice should mean something more, eh?

set the jumpers correctly, put the hard drive on the right connector (just in case), try turning the floppy connector over
