My friend from work gave me her computer to work on it becuase she was having problems with it. She was sayin that her monitor would shut off while she was using it, sometimes it would be like 5 mins, sometimes 10 mins. She try pushing the power button in to shut off the computer but she said that wouldnt work, I told her on these newer computers you have to hold the button in for like 10 seconds. so she unplug it, then plug it back in, she hit the power button, it wouldnt turn on at all. So she was tellin me, she left it unplug for for the night, plug it back in the morning, and the computer turn on by itself. Once i finally looked at it, it did the same things to me. I just try turning it on this morning, and it wouldnt turn on. Could the powersupply/ powerswitch be going bad on it? it's an older computer

it has a intel celeron 500mhz cpu. Im not sure which motherboard is in there, it from company I've never heard of.

btw id check both her monitor and my montior on her system. it the same results. and i check her monitor on my computer, her monitor works fine.

i just looked at the motherboard chipset cooler, and it says ecs on it? im assuming the ecs is the company who made the motherboard, and it a skt 370 motherboard/slot 1 motherboard. it's an micro atx motherboard with the sis chippset. I just found the website to this motherboard.

could be heat, could be ram, could be the psu, could be the vid card. Prolly not the monitor.

Be a champ and buy her a new mb, proc, ram, vid card and psu. If she's greatful, she'll um, well, thank you.

Otherwise, it's a 500mhz celeron. You aren't likely to find parts to fix what's wrong anywayz.

the video card is built into the motherboard, i have the system running for the past hr or so now, i've ran defrag and doing a virus scan check at the moment
