computer powers on by itself after shutting down

I just built a new pc recently (pc specs are in my signature), and a few times after I have shut down my pc, it has started up on its own. I have no clue what is wrong because I know all the parts are placed properly and seem to work properly. Now this has only happened like 3-4 times in the past 3 weeks that I've had my computer.

I checked my bios and for LAN options (such as wake on LAN feature) and found nothing that would cause this proboem.

anyone have any clue to what the problem may be?

Once you turn if off, unplug the LAN cable.
See if it comes back on.

My girlfriend's PC does the same thing, and WOL (Wake-On-LAN) is turned off in the BIOS.

well if that was the case, then what would be the problem and could I get it fixed? I noticed that my mobo has two lan different lan ports.

hi, if its wake on lan, look through your mobo manual since we have no idea where that is in your bios, or maybe resetting the defaults will help? another thing it could be is software installed, did it start this on day 1? or more recently after all your progs were installed?

You say your pc specs are in your signature. What sig are you referring to? None seen.

Also, there's another possibility. Do you have an all-in-one printer by chance that has a fax capability? If so, you might have a Wake on Ring feature enabled that would toggle your pc on when your phone rings.

Of course, it doesn't have to be a printer...any phone line that's connected to your pc's modem could cause this.

Also, some pc's have an auto restart function built into the bios if it detects that power has been disconnected. By disconnected, I mean power to the power cable itself is off. When power is returned, the pc will turn on.

This could point to the power supply, or to a UPS or powerstrip issue.

is it a recent problem that has suddenly started?? or an old one?

I could not find anything else named "wake on" other than the LAN stuff, and it was fine.

You think it's the PSU? It has been very loud, like a Jet, since I put my computer together. I am thinking about calling Antec tech support to tell them about it, since they advertised a quiet PC case.

I'm having the same problem. I' built my system last may and it only started happening with in the last two weeks. It started the same the same time as we got a new Linsys wireless hub. Once we put the hub in and i went to shut it down that night, it wants to restart a couple of times after. I've also checked my bios on the "wake on lan" thing, but it all shows off all what i can find. So right now what i do when i shut it off, is to shut it down normally then when off fip the power switch off for a few secs and flip it back and it stays off. I did notice we have a few of the same computer parts like mobo.

my system specs:
my specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ClawHammer
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra
