Computer pet-peeves...whats yours?

Does it bother you guys when you have to use a public computer/someone else's computer and their mouse is all nasty? Like there's booger and sweat and the mouse wreaks of ass...uggh gross. And its one of those lame ass ball-mice with like 9 inches of crap up in the little rollers so it moves like 3 inches for every 6 feet you roll it...Good god i cant stand it!! And like when I go from my ratpad or hardwood surface to some gunkyass public germfarm mousepad, gross. It makes the mouse seem so heavy in comparison to the ratpad..rofl.

Anyone else have similar frustrations?!

I bring my own compact keyboard and mouse with me onsite, I very seldom use other people's keyboards.

When people start touching and putting pressure on an lcd screen. The warping makes me scream inside.

A bunch of useless icons in the system tray especially comet cursors and gator.

Spyware

Cluttered desktop

Just to name a few 🙂

I do not like to have someone standing behind
me and looking over my shoulder when I am
checking my e-mail or on my PC at all for that matter.
It just bugs me man. 🙂

DAW- I sooooo agree with you on the systray icons! I went to work on one of my teacher's comps, he was like "my computer starts up really slow..."

He had like 22 items in the systray..rofl

I take alcohol wipes and wipe the keyboard and mouse down. I hate it when people touch my computer screen.

AND I hate dumb-asses when it comes to systems computers.....use some common sense!!

Hell ya, it's like "I wonder WTF is causing your computer to start up sooooooo slow!?!!1/?!/!?!?!" And waiting for ALL those icons to load up *shudders*

It pisses me off that I can't re-arrange icons on my taskbar. I want my work utilities in a specific order, & if one crashes I have to close everything & re-open them to regain my order.

Why the hell can't we click & drag them around?

The order in which programs display on your taskbar.

For example, on your standard windows taskbar you have:

[START][Quick Launch][Program One][Program Two][Program Three]

The programs are organized in the order you opened them. I want to be able to rearrange them at will, such as:

[START][Quick Launch][Program One][Program Three][Program Two]

To me it makes a big difference.

For example, at work I load my programs in this order:

1) Call tracking database
2) PC phone interface
3) Two IE windows for my web based tools
4) Three IE windows for my personal use

If my call tracking software crashes (which it does regularly), I have to close all my IE windows + the phone interface, re-load the call db, then the softphone, then the IE windows again.

That's a PITA.

That was one of my biggest pet-peeves at work, but they usually got out of order because I shut down a program on accident. I would usually have Outlook as my first icon, next was Brio, and then the various sessions of Client Access. I do wish that MS would come up with a way to move around the icons.

My biggest pet-peeve would have to be the infomercials for PCs. The guy always sounds like a car salesman and the prices are so out of sight for what you get. It's bad when the guy say's, "... and you would expect to pay $2000, not today, $1900, not today, $1600, not today, just $1599.99. I'm still waiting for him to throw in the orange pealer.

the biggest things that piss me off:
cluttered desktops
people lurking over my shoulder while i'm on the computer
people attempting (that's the key word) to use my server (open bsd) to do things like go on "aim"
touching my monitors YOU TOUCH MY MONITOR WITH THOSE GREASY CHEEZ DOODLE FINGERS AND I'LL CHOP YOUR DAMN HAND OFF!!!

and that's about it.

That's one of the reasons why I like Enlightenment on Gnome. You can "iconify" a running process... 😀

I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when my friend comes over or whoever, and he'll eat something all greasy or salty, and doesn't even wash his hands, and when i'm out or something without even asking he'll come and get on my computer, and gets the mouse all dirty. I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when i'm sitting here talking on AIM or email or icq or yahoo and he/she's looking over my shoulder, annoys the hell outta me. I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when they point at the screen and touch it and get something on it. I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEE when they move the keyboard or mouse pad because i have it set the way i like it and it just don't feel right after the move it, i have even went as far as to sketch with my sword a little nitch at each cornor so when they move either, i can put them back where they originally were.....whew.........i don't think i'm crazy but they do...
