Computer often requires pressing reset switch to boot properly

Just built a new system. I am not overclocking and currently using BIOS 1005c. Everything works like a champ with the exception of how the PC boots.

An overwhelming majority of the time, immediately after pressing the power button on the front of the case, the power comes on, the drives spin, but no signal is sent to the monitor and it does not boot. The computer just sits there and "runs".

If I hit the reset button, it resets and then boots normally.

In addition, when I have the hard drive LED hooked up, it is always on. I got sick of it, so I disconnected it. I have a single hard drive hooked up to the Promise controller.

Any and all insight is appreciated.

how old is your computer? what is your PSU? and it maybe a CMOS fault also. try resetting your CMOS? your CMOS battery could be getting low as well.

Unplugging case fans? Are you saying that there is too much power being pulled from the power supply? Interesting.

To answer the other questions, my PC is literally days old and I am using a 300 watt PS.

By all means, please keep the suggestions flowing.
