Computer Not Starting Up

Hey guys,

I just bought a new case for my computer and after switching everything over, my computer is having problems starting up. The system will power on but nothing comes up on the monitor. The monitor just stays in "standby" mode where it is doing nothing. The fans power on and it sounds like a normal start up but nothing happens. I don't have a CD drive hooked in because I am getting a new one tomorrow, would that affect it not starting up at all? otherwise, my mast hard disk is hooked into the primary ide slot on the motherboard with a slave hooked into it. Can anybody suggest anything? maybe a common solution to this type of thing? Any help is appreciated!

By the way, I can not even see the BIOS cycle, it is just nothing at all. I tried switching from DVI to VGA connection types, but to no avail.

If you have a higher-end graphics card, they usually have an internal molex power adapter, make sure it's plugged in (if you do indeed have it).

Also make sure you video card is seated properly, and all the cables are connected.

You may need to reset your CMOS, which is usually done by a quick jumper setting, check your motherboard manual for information on how to do that.

Here's the things I'd try:

1. Take out / unplug everything except for your video card.
2. Reset your CMOS.
3. Reset your motherboard.

I tried resetting CMOS, any length on how long to keep the battery out? I have never done that before. I unplugged power cord, removed battery, then used the jumper pins to reset, then put the battery back on, plugged power cord, and same thing happens. Fans come on, hds i can tell are on but just nothing comes up on the screen, no BIOS or anything. How do i reset the motherboard?

w00t. I went ahead and took everything apart and reassembled it all. IT continued to happen but I went ahead and tried resetting CMOS and it worked. Thanks for the tips guys!
