Computer Not Powering On

Hi, I have a really old computer running on a duron 900 with 256mb pc133 ram that I'm assembling. When I try to power it, it turns on for a split second and then off again. I've tried two separate PSU, which I know both are good. What can be causing this problem?

Need more info...motherboard, power supply, operating system, etc. Are you sure all the parts are functional? Is the heatsink fan plugged into the proper header?

Motherboard is old Gigabyte with VIA 133 chipset, powersupplies are 300watt and 450watt (works perfectly on my other systems), OS wouldnt matter since it cant even startup...

wont even start with just ram/cpu/videocard.. could it be the mobo? i mean even a bad mobo would still startup but may not display anything

sounds like metal is touching the motherboard and shorting it out. make sure there are no prongs from the I/O plate touching the motherboard, or any other metal.
