The GPU heatsink might have lost contact with the die somehow. Perhaps you should try reapplying the thermal grease and reseating your GPU heatsink.

Edit: If you decide to reseat the heatsink yourself be careful. Chipping the die is very easy and it can kill the card.
 
Try the video card in another computer and see if the temp stays @ 80+C. If you do not have a 2nd pc available ask a friend or take it to a local shop to have it tested. You chould try to obtain warranty work on it thru BFG. Otherwise remove the HSF, remove the old thermal compound, and then reapply it to the core.
