Ok,I have a naw comuter wilh a Ok,I have a naw comuter wilh a Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor. I loaded Quake arena and tryed to run it. My computer won't run it it locks up/freezes. I have read somewhere that some older games won't work with dual core processors. If so how do I disable 1/2 of my processor to make this work? Can you help me?

Open task manager (control +alt and delete) got to QUAKE EXE in processes ,right click on it and choose set affinity, then deselect one of the CPU cores.

Btw you did install the AMD X2 driver?...download link .

Mem,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I installed the drivers, however when I go to Task Manager there is no Quake.exe listed in any way, shape or form. Where do I look next?

Thanks

You need to run Quake first then minimize it,then select it via task manager, can you start Quake arena at all before it locks up?

I can not get that far into it, is runs maybe 3 seconds, then goes to safe mode. Then I can get the task manager and it has quake.exe in it, it has one processor checked. But I am unable to close it properly because it is in safe mode.
