Computer locks up

I just recently built this computer:

AMD64 4000+
2048mb G.Skill PC3200
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra
eVGA 7800GT CO
Antec 550W TruePower 2.0


My computer locks up on ALL video games, about 70% done loading, and it locks up, and freezes.

It locks up while surfing the web on FireFox, but stays up for a long time before it locks up.

When trying BF2, it locks up right when it's about to start, after loading.



Please help me.

Which version of Windows are you running? How recent was the install? I will assume that you have all the updates and are running / have ran some suitable adware scanning apps / virus scan apps...

Has the new system displayed this behaviour since you built it? Do you have the latest BIOS update for your motherboard?

Im willing to bet you used the CD's to install drivers on that whole system. get everything offline thats updated. Try this, go to www.omegadrivers.net and download their latest Nvidia drivers. besides that I would also make sure you get the latest Chipset drivers for your motherboard along with the latest BIOS flash for it. Also be sure you have SP2 for windows and all updates. Check device manager to make sure every thing looks good.

Im about 80% positive its a driver issue, but it might not be because it freezes up also while your on the net. I would also test your memory with Memtest through the bios, also try to get a Drive fitness Test for the Hard drive although HD I think is unlikely.
