I just got my new comp build for like 2-3 days now. Now I'm trying to install games like Mirror's edge and COD4 it locks up in the middle of installing. So I need help in figuring out what is wrong with my computer.

Comp Stats:
Q6600
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB

Do I need to install the latest driver?
I installed the new Catalyst Software Suite 9.1
But I only install the driver for the motherboard from the CD that included from it, do I need to install the latest one from Gigabyte site?

Yes according to date posted and version number. When a motherboard is new they can be the best place for drivers. If there a BIOS update you should look at that too and install unless the update note doesnt show anything useful to you.

What kind of errors you see in the event viewer that maybe a clue to the problem?

someone at tom's forum said this "First thing I would do is a memory test just to be sure there's no problem there.

Unlikely to be graphics drivers as you are only installing and not actually running the game. "

And today I reinstall catalyst driver, and my comp freeze up like 2 time after I restart the comp, so I hit restart button for like 2 times and then went to click recovery but I didn't load the disc when it ask me to. I just press ESC and left and it boot into window fine. And I also install the chipset driver and I click install it didn't really install anything it just ask next next and it finish. So I guess I got the latest driver for my motherboard.

I downloaded the catalyst driver at sapphire site this time, when I first boot up my comp ever I install the graphic driver from the CD that came with 4850, then I went to ati site and download the latest 9.1.

As a new computer it can be a lot of thing that can be causing the problem. Need more info as what OS your running. Who built the system and if you know how did they choose the components. Is the system having a problem with any install of software or just games? Did you check the event viewer for error messages? Any other problems that might help with diagnostics?

There are 3 different errors shown by event viewer, the sources are MsiInstaller, Application Hang, and .Net Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting.
