Computer locking up : Memory ?

Hello everyone,

Some weeks ago I posted about some computer problems i was having. I couldn't solve anything so i took it to a technician ( just because i didn't have the proper hardware to test it ) and the guy said it was the motherboard. Ok, i bought a new motherboard and....ta da ! The pc is still with the same problem. Sometimes, it boots, but then hangs. I tried swapping video card, cpu, removed all other peripehals and it's still with the same problem. Any chance this is NOT a memory problem ? I mean, the only thing i didn't swap is the memory ( i don't know anyone that i can ask for DDR memory ), so... Any clues ? Can it be something else, like cooler ( the cooler looks like it's working flawlessly ) ?

Thanks,
Ivan

How far does it get in the boot up process? Does it get into windows? Try clearing the cmos. Additionally, take out any extra perpherals (i.e sound cards, nic cards, etc), and disconnect the floppy and hard drive, so that your system is stripped down, and then try to boot.

Sometimes it does boot. Sometimes it locks before post, sometimes it not even boots at all and i get some annoying beeps. As i said, i removed everything, and tested with other processor and video card, same problem. I haven't disconected only the hard drive because then the system won't boot anyway, so there's no login in doing that. Btw, i already did that on TWO mobos, same problem.

Ivan
