computer locking up during Gameplay

Hiya,Was just wandering if anyone has any information on why a computer would freeze during game play forcing me to reboot from power switch ?

COMPUTER STATS
amd 2600+
80gb HD
1gig ram
ATI 9800pro/AGP
768/DSL

Plenty of possible causes...

Bad RAM, overheating, inadequate power supply, bad drivers, etc. etc.

Check out each possibility and you should be able to find the cause.
