Computer keeps slowing down

Hi, I have never had memory leakage problems with direct connect before and now when I have DC open and then folder to which i download things too, the computer CPU goes to 100% usage and the kernel is at like 50%. I have to end task on that folder. Why does it keep doing that. It doesnt do it when I have other folders open. Thanks
