i've been having a small problem lately where my computer keeps shutting down at random times. Funny thing is that it shuts down the proper way, like i'll see the "windows is shutting down" screen and everything. what could be the prob? can viruses do something like this? i have updated norton 2002 av and it doesnt detect anything. here are my specs:

Athlon XP 2000+
EPoX 8KHA+
768 MB Crucial DDR Ram
Maxtor 40GB+80GB 7200 RPM HD's
ATi Radeon 8500
Philips Acoustic Edge
Intel Pro 100+ Management Adapter (x2)
Windows XP Professional
Antec SX1040 Case w/400 watt Antec PP412x Power Supply
All plugged into a CyberPower 900AVR

All drivers are up to date, and i applied all windows updates.
somebody help me...its getting annoying..=\

A couple things to try:

1) Turn off the "Shutdown on error"(sorry can't remember where the setting is)
2) Uninstall the WinXP upgrades, they give some people problems

When WinXP restrarts, does it want to send an error to MS?

is "shutdown on error" on by defualt? this never used to happen to me, just started happening after my last reformat. ive been trying to look for that option, but havent found it yet. the computer doesnt want to send error reports after the install. its not shutting off suddenly like in power failure, it does so normally but without me telling it to =\

Try this:

Start->Control Panel->System->Advanced(tab)->Startup and Recovery(settings button) then uncheck "Automatically Reboot" under "System Failure"
