Computer keeps restarting

Every hour or so my computer just restarts. It used to do it less frequently, but then i updated the bios and it seems to be more frequent. I'm not too sure what the issue is.

Here are my specs

Gigabyte EX58-UD5 bios F4
3 x 2GB Patriot DDR3 9-9-9-24 @ 1.64v DDR3-1600
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66GHz stock voltage
Corsair 1000HX
I have it running off a 1100VA UPS
Vista x64 Ultimate SP1

The rest of the parts should be in my signature. When i check the system logs, there is nothing leading towards an application problem or anything of the sort.

Maybe I will try reformatting. Maybe some of my drivers are out of date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would check for viruses or overheating problems. If you think its a Vista problem you could try a repair install which will require your to reinstall drivers and MS update after the installation is done.

I would guess it's an overheating issue as well. It's a failsafe so that it doesn't permanently damage your components.

Doesn't seem like an overheating issue to me. You haven't done any overclocking, right?

Install Prime95 and do some stress tests. If it reboots on you soon after starting the test, then it could very well be overheating. If not, could be something else.

It really doesn't seem to be an overheating issue to me though. Run Prime95 and post what happens.

No overclocking is being done. The temps are stable around ~40deg. There is little to no CPU usage on this machine when it is rebooting. I tried updating my ich10R drivers. Hopefully that did something. I am also doing a virus scan to make sure. If it doesn't get better than i will try reinstalling vista to see if that helps. Thanks for all the help/suggestions!

I reinstalled vista and no changes. It never reboots when i am using it, just when it is idle and not doing anything. I am going to run some memtests, other than that perhaps i have a defective board. Anyone have any other ideas?

naaa no messages. I managed to find a place where other people are experiencing the same problem with running memory at ddr3-1600 with the x58. Such a pain in the ass. Hopefully newer bioses will fix the issue.
