Computer keeps restarting in XP

My sister's computer keeps restarting when it hits the Windows XP Welcome screen. Before this happened she kept getting popups (I don't know what). Any suggestions?

I did a system restore and had to reinstall drivers and fix settings. Took hours just to get the wifi working again. What a pain in the ass that was.

Did you ever detect what it was infected with?

Nope.

Nope.

You should still run Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware and ComboFix to clean it out.

Spybot and NOD32 are a creat combo. Just run the Trial of NOD32

Doing to the system restore will most likely not remove the infection.

Problem arises again. Now I get a winlogon.exe application error on the welcome screen. Computer restarts if I click ok or cancel on the error.

Edit: Did the recovery thing again. This time all the files and programs got deleted, didn't happen last time. Now that brat is giving me an attitude...

Well like we said, if you have scanned after you restored in the first point.
