This system keeps restarting and giving errors. Even when I was installing XP from the CD, it was installing for a while, but then restarted when there was 19 minutes left. It then tried to resume setup, but then it kept restarting.

Here is the error that it was giving when I tried to boot from the XP CD again to finish the installation:

----
Line 13 of the INF file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid

Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
----

The "Line" value is always a different number each time.

And here is the blue screen error that would appear when I would be using Ultimate Boot CD for Windows:

----
driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Stop 0X000000D1 (0x0000F188, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xF73C168F)

acpi.sys - Address F73C168F base at F73AD000, DateStamp 41107d27
----

It's a Sony Vaio Desktop PCV-RSD400CG.

Suggestions?

Not yet. Is it possible the CPU is bad? Someone who was getting the first error message on another forum in a threat that he started said that was what fixed it for him. Is there a test for the CPU as well? If so, how do I do it and where do I get it if it involves software?

Test the memory and hard drive first. After that, if you really feel the need to test the CPU, use a Live Linux CD and run it for a while. In twenty years of PC work, I've NEVER seen a CPU that "partially worked". They either work or they don't work. Come to think of it, I've never even seen a bad CPU. I suppose if you melt one... I'm not saying that partially-bad CPUs don't exist. But hard drives and memory fail MUCH more often.
