Computer keeps getting disconnected from Internet

Hi Folks:

A few months ago, I bought an e-machine (mentioned on the Hot Deals forum). Everything is fine except that the Internet connection keeps getting discounted every 10 or so minutes.

If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Here are a couple facts:

1. We changed the modem. The same thing is happening.
2. It is unlikely that it is the ISP or the phone line. We have another computer at home using the same exact ISP and this has never happened.

using diff phone number?
removing readding modem drivers?
getting a hardware modem as opposed to a winmodem?

I have not used a different phone number although with my other computer I use the same phone number with no problem. I will try a different phone number and report back.

I have removed and re-added modem drivers several times. As I said I have even used a different modem. No luck.

I have not tried a hardware modem. I might have to do that if I cannot solve my present problem.

Do you have idle disconnect on? Is this computer and the other one on a network?

Where do I check the "idle disconnect"? And no the two computers are not networked.
