Computer keeps freezing?

Every time I do anything to do with my sound card; update drivers, change settings, speaaker test, etc. My system freezes.
Audigy2 platinum
Abit IC7-G
Pent 4 2.6
ATI 9700 pro
Bios 7.13
The sound card is in slot 2
 
tried a differant slot and tried updating drivers. it freezes half way through the update. is it the mb
 
It was my front panel box. When I unpluged it everything works fine. Is it bad or just incompatable with this chipset?
