Hi, today, just now, my computer just died.

I opened up the case to look inside and I see my 4 diagnostic LEDs all red when I turn the comp on. I have been searching MSI's site, but can not find information about these LED's and my instruction booklet is 90 miles away in my college apartment.

I was wondering if anyone know where I could find information about these LED's, as it would help me greatly troubleshoot my problem.

When the computer is turned on, all fans spin, the hard drive spins up, but there is no video. Maybe my video card needs to be reseated, or my RAM died or something, I'd just kinda want to know what those lights mean before I start screwing around with it.

Thanks.

What?!? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I have never had a MSI mobo die... Ever!

I finally found the area of MSI's site that has the LED's explained.... All red is System Power on.... It just sits there...

I was working on the comp today actually, I put in 512 MB of RAM and that is when it happened... I thought the RAM was bad, but when I put my 256 back in, it didn't post again... I then reset my cmos... still nothing :-(

It can't be dead... Well, it could be, but I always liked MSI cause their stuff never failed on me. I'll be playing around with it for a bit... but it may very well be dead since it doesn't get past power on...

Well, you are probably right... I made sure I was grounded before touching my computer, I just wonder how it could just go all of a sudden... I mean, I was working inside and I was sure the RAM and to be bad... But then it worked in my ECS board and I was like... hmm...

Put back in the old stick, nothing happened... Just sat there. This angers me! Bah!

Wonder if they will replace it with something a little better. I'm gonna give them a call in about 15 minutes, I'll see what they say.

BTW, thanks for the phone numbers.

Well, I called them, they gave me an RMA, but said to first check the processor, so I did, I switched out my 1.33 Ghz Athlon for a 1.0 Ghz Duron, and the system works....

Now to put the 1.33 in my other system to see if it works...

So the board is not dead, but the processor may be.

Ok then... It now works in my MSI board... This was very weird.

I took out my 1.33, put it in my K7S5A and it worked, but my 1.0 Ghz in my MSI K7 master, and it posted and worked fine.

Then I swapped them back and they both worked again... Very strange.. Guess I'm not returning this board! MSI still have a perfect track record as far as dead boards go for me now.

However, I do know others have had problems with them.

is it a memory problem?

related to your FSB.

try for example to underload your 1.33 setting your mobo to 100 FSB with it.

Yeah... It's working great now...

Added my Extra 512 RAM to the system and it improved my 3dmark2k1 score by 200 points... Not to shabby... System seems a little more responsive now.
