Computer just "stopped" working

SCENERIO:

morning- computer working
evening- computer no longer turns on, posts, makes noises, or does ANYTHING

VERIFIED FACTS:

Surge protector plugged into wall and working
Power supply plugged into surge protector
Motherboard plugged into power supply
Power switch plugged into motherboard
Press power switch, nothing happens
Rocker on the back of power supply is definitely set to "ON"
Power supply definitely at correct voltage
Motherboard is NOT touching the case in any way

What could be wrong here?

just wondering how you verified the surge protector is working... first easy test is to bypass surge protector and plug right into outlet.
most of the time it's not something that easy, but that's definitely an easy test, so might as well try it.

Tried numerous outlets on the surge protector. The other outlets have things like printers and monitors in them... and those devices are "on".

Try removing all USB devices.

Do you have another PSU that you can use to see if the old one is bad? I'm thinking the old PSU died on you.

... Anyway I've taken out the motherboard and tried the setup with just the motherboard, PSU and CPU/HSF.

The little green light on the motherboard doesn't even come on - ever. That thing should be on even if the computer's not on, correct? That must mean it's the power supply, right?

Sigh... it's a four month old Enermax 400W power supply... it shouldn't have died already!!

Try taking the computer to a buddy's house in the afternoon and trying it there.

Also, like others have said, I would also try a new power supply.

This is my guess also. Try a new psu.

Yep... all the times my various comps failed to boot, was because the yum-cha branded PSU died.

Unplug the psu connector from the mobo, jumper the green wire (PS-on) to any ground (black) wire and see if the psu fan works. I popped poly fuse on mine, chaintech 7vif4, and the whole thing shut down. After the fuse cooled, the cpu and case fan started again, but I think the mobo is cooked (see uh, oh thread).
