Computer Issue

My system:
-Asus K8V SE Deluxe
-AMD Athlon 64 3400
-1 gig ram (2 x 512meg)
-72 gig Raptor WD SATA drive (Primary C🙂
-120 gig WD IDE (Secondary D🙂
-Antec 550 Truepower PSU
-BFG 6800 GT
-Audigy 2
-NEC 2500a DVD Writer
-Genericrap DVD Reader

My problem:
Every few months, my system will crash or I will reboot the machine and for some stupid reason, the SATA drivers will not load, so I can not boot up my machine. Eventually, after rebooting a dozen times and maybe giving the system a boot, it will restart.

Yes, I have checked all my cables and even replaced the SATA cables for the Raptor but this is so intermittant (every few months) I really have no idea what causes it.

Anybody have any clue?
Thanks.

Power fluctuations (from the outlet) or viruses? Sounds really, really weird. Does formatting and reinstalling WinXP help?
