Ok I just made another post about how i took out my hard drive to test it on another pc, and now i'm having problems. I just connected it back up and when i go into windows in is really jittery and its like freezes for a second every 10 seconds or so. I checked taskmanager and system idel process is at %98 and i closed everything running. I didnt change anything, but just hooked the hard drive back up like it was, anyone have a clue what it could be?

Well...system idle process normally takes up 98-99% when the PC isn't doing anything...that basically means that the processor isn't doing anything. So, that part is normal. If it's freezing often though you might check event log and see if there are any errors there. HTH.

System Idle doesn't take resources.

It doesn't actually DO anything. It simply shutsdown the CPU when nothing is going on.

If 2% of your CPU is being used, then System Idle will be at 98%.

If 10% of your CPU is being used, System Idle will be at 90%.

That's the way it works.

Search the forums and you'll find out what sbchost does...you need it basically.

Also, it sounds like you've got 256MB RAM and about 100 of it is free, which is not bad at all.

1) What mouse are you using? (Vendor's drivers or MS's?)
2) What video card are you using? (What drivers?)
3) What sound card are you using? (What drivers?)
4) Have you defragged your drive lately?
5) Are you running anti virus software or a personal (software) firewall?
6) Is your PageFile/Virtual Memory set to a specific size or does it grow/shrink?
7) What temp is your CPU running?
8) What motherboard are you using and what BIOS version?
9) Have you installed XP SP1? Did you "acquire" your copy of XP or did you purchase it?
10) Are you running TweakUI, or RivaTuner, or PowerStrip, or GeForce Tweak Util, etc, etc ... ?

Also the system idle process should always be high on your system unless you are running; a huge number of apps, seti, ud_agent, distributed, prime95, etc... There are hardly any apps that use 100% of your CPU's available cycles. You'd have to be running a huge number of apps to get your system to 100% usage with everyday apps (WinAmp2 only eats 2 to 4% and 10% at most).

Well, 1 thing at a time, Uninstall the drivers for the SBLive, that you got from the creative site, and use the drivers off windows update, then report back here. ( You could roll back the driver in device manager too.

6: Pagefile = memory that can't be stored in RAM gets stored into a file called pagefile.sys on your hard drive. If you (on win2K, so it might be a little different in XP) right click on My Computer, goto Properties. Advanced tab, performance options, click the change button. You can set a specific size that the pagefile can be.

7: Get Motherboard Monitor. Set it up by using the help file and help with installing. Trust me, you won't figure it out without the help files ;) It's a little tricky at first.

I uninstalled the drivers and re-installed the windows update drivers. I'll report back in a min.
My pagefile is set at 382, which it says is normal. MBM is on the way!

Well oddly enough the problem has partly gone away after I unistalld the SB Live Drivers, but it still is there. Its not nearly as bad, but it is still there and things are taking way too long to load.

D/L a program called Ad-Aware and use it to find and delete any spyware on your comp. Spyware sucks resources dry faster than a plague.

You may have remnants of the sblive drivers in the reg/ I would uninstall sblive completely, then do not restart, but shut down. Remove the card, then boot, and do a search for creative, and delete anything that is a .dll. Shut down again, and reinstall the card, reboot, and use the windows drivers, then update the drivers for sblive on win update, I've had the same prob with the creative drivers here, and once the sblive prob was rectified/ my problems went away. Another notorious culprit is the Intel accelerator drivers, but I believe you don't have those. Hope this helps ;)

You can look in your startup folder, may be there/ but you may have to delete them in safe mode.
