Computer Input

Good Morning,

I was just hoping I could get some Feedback on this computer deal on found on Newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...m-_-34-230-242

Mainly just looking for a cheapish computer that can handle normal activities as well as run WoW without lag. Naturally I don't need all the graphics to be maxed out, I just want to be able to play without too much lag.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

HD

You should be okay with that ASUS, I have a similiar notebook it's a Lenovo with alt of the same specs, I use it for everyday use, no gaming though, but I was just checking the system requirements for WoW and you've got them covered. The only thing I did with the Lenovo was add another 4gigs of ram to bring it up to the max of 8 the computer would allow. But thats just me. I do this with all my computers. Go for it!

OOPS! I didn't see the cpu spec, the Lenovo has an intel 2.2hghz processor (an Intel i3). For that price range you might want to check out the lenovo's.

If it doesnt have 2 memory channels, do not buy it. You're already right on the border of what is tolerable. I do believe the new 22nm pentium B960 replacement will put out better framerates when it launches, if it launches... And pentium B960 notebooks regularly go on sale for under $300 so I expect the same from the 22nm by the end of summer. For $400 you might even be able to get 22nm i3....

6520 isn't a speed demon neither 😉 but for wow it should suffice. have you considered buying second hand machine? you can gen better deal at a little higher risk 🙂

Any modern machine can run WoW without problems - at the low end AMD does much better than Intel due to a vastly superior GPU. Check out Anandtech's review.

So that machine looks like a good bet.

The other thing I would add as a WoW player is that WoW loves SSDs. There is a ton of disk access as you move around the world, and the difference if you have an SSD is pretty substantial. If you have a bit of dinero left over it might be a nice upgrade. Just make sure you go at least 120GB. I have a 90GB atm and space gets a bit tight at times with WoW on there.
