Hey, I just put together a new computer for one of my friends, and I powered it up. Upon booting it up, the Epox board, 8rda, and the post code displayed is 52. In the manual it says, "Test asll memory (clear all extended memory to 0.) Can anyone tell me how to fix this. I need to get this working for him.

Thanx

For starters, what parts are you using in it? Brand + model. What heatsink/fan combo are you using, and are there any fans plugged into the motherboard's 3-pin fan headers?

Ok.
HSF - Sk-7
There isn't anything in the three pin connecters, I used a case fan.
WD 80 gig special edition hd.
Sony Floppy
Lite-on CD-R
512 pc 2700 crucial ram

Awesome, here are a couple brainstorms to try:

  • Make sure the WD drive is set to Single Drive and not to Master or Slave, if it's solo on its own cable. It should be at the end connector so there's no vacant cable beyond it, in theory.
  • Unclip the SK-7. The end of its clip which has the screwdriver receptacle should be at the top of the board, facing the PSU (unless you have an unusual PSU location). Now engage the bottom side of the clip, the end with no screwdriver receptacle, and slide the heatsink as far that way as possible so it is as far away from the top of the motherboard as the clip will permit. Now engage the clip. This solved a problem I had with my SK-7 where the lower deck of the heatsink base was landing on the solid-plastic section of the CPU socket, preventing flat contact between the CPU and the heatsink

Hope that gets it working for you 🙂

Make sure your memory is seated all the way in.
Some motherboards are tuff to get the memory all the way in.
If your using 2 sticks, try using only one at a time.
