Recently I'm trying to build a new computer for my own use, I bought parts online and started
putting them together last week. I got it done in around 30 min and when I turned it on
everything is fine except that during POST it pop up an error about CPU setting does not match
and BIOS have been reset back to default (Really don't know what does that mean) press F1
to continue or ESC to enter setup. I went into the BIOS setting and tried to figure out what is
wrong but I couldn't find any problem so I rebooted and same error poped up. Only this time
I pressed F1 and continue trying to install Windows 2000. As the system was load files from
the CD I got this error "NTFS is corrupted" and the system just hang so I restart the computer
again and 1st error was not there any more so I go on trying to install windows 2000. This time
just before the part where Windows 2000 is loaded and I was going to start installing. This error
pops up "STOP: xxxx:xxxx (x stands for some kind of memory address) could not be loaded.
If this is the first time you see this error restart the computer. If this error continues to
appear please check your BIOS setting if Harddrive is setup correctly. Refer to your motherboad
manual on Getting started if error continues." Some error message like that comes up, at first
I thought was a HD error so I took out my old HD that's on my working computer and plug it in
and while loading windows 2000 (on the screen where it display Windows 2000 based NT technology)
the same error pops up. Then I thought it might be the cable so I swap the cable too but still same error
Then I took my computer apart and put them back together carefully checking if I screw up any where.
But still same error pops up. So I was hoping anyone that knows more than I do on computer
could give me some insight on what might the problem be......
Here my computer spec:
CPU: P4 3.06 GHz
MBoard: Shuttle AV94N Via P4X400 Chipset
RAM: 2 x pc 2100 256 MB DDR
HD: IBM Deskstar 60 GB, WD 40 GB (working HD on my other computer), Quantum 10 GB (friend loaned me)
Video: GeForce FX 5200 128 MB
DVD: Lite-On 16x DVD
CD-ROm: 52x24x52 CD-RW
O/S: Windows 2000 Professional
PS the last error "STOP......." appears when I used different HD and IDE cable
Please any suggestion on how to solve these problem. Thank you for your time in advance.
