Computer Hangs during domain Login

I just setup a domain and when a user login in on WinXP the computer seems to hang for about 45 seconds while it applys personal settings. Is this a problem with the domain being to slow in authenticating the user or is it just a speed issue with the network because it is on a 10Mb section?

Are you using roaming profiles? Have seen that really slow down logins sometimes.

Poorly configured DNS can cause slow logon times as well.

Exactly. Is your client machine's DNS pointing to the DNS server running on the DC, which points its DNS to itself?
