Computer going crazy...

Let's see, where should I start?

Ok, in the past two weeks I installed two pieces of software (Oracle 8i and WinBlinds). Since then I've been having random reboots and constant locking up. After I realized those two were the only things I've changed since it started, I uninstalled them both. I've had about one freeze and a reboot since (less than 24 hours). I know WinBlinds isn't suppost to be to stable, but what about Oracle 8i Personal? I know it's the best database and all but I'm thinking it may become unstable while running on my system (not a server of anykind).

One more thing, I recently installed the new Shuttle AK31A (about a month or two ago) and it's been rock solid. I don't believe this is the source but I can't rule it out. I didn't do a clean install after the new board was in. I just deleted the drivers from my old board then installed the new ones when I put in the Shuttle. Again, I don't think this is the problem, just thought I'd mention it.

What do you guys think from hearing this? I'm thinking of doing a clean install of Windows this weekend but I really don't want to reinstall all of my software again (would take 8-10 hours for whole project).

Are you able to read any of the log files and see what the issue may be?

Any specific operation being done when it freezes or is it totally random???

A total reformat may be the only answer to at least isolating an issue...if you reformat and issue starts happening out of the gate it may be the mobo or some basic piece of hardware such as memory...

rule out:

1)power
2)heat
3)ram
4)hardware conflicts
4)software conflicts

What kind of log files should I be looking for? But now, it doesn't really do it anymore. Since Oracle and WinBlinds are gone, things have gone pretty much back to normal. I'll give it a few more days of testing before I do a full reinstall😉
