Computer fried...need replacement

I'm looking for a decent budget CPU/mobo combo and came up with two options:

Socket A Barton (regular/mobile)
Socket A Sempron

Sempron is a replacement of Duron, but since its also replacing Athlon XP line. Would the performance of Sempron match up with AXP Barton?

The Socket A Semprons are rebadged 333FSB Thoroughbreds, so you'd want a Barton AXP or XP-M if possible. Out of those, I'd take a mobile 2400+ and crank it. You could also consider a low-cost S754 system, though, with prices on the A64 2800+ and Sempron 3100+ the way they are now--you can get a CPU/board combo with one of those for about $200.
