my friend has a epox kx board with an athlon 500 oc to 700. he also has a voodoo2, dvd decoder card, aureal soundcard, us robotics modem and a nic. when he tries to install the nic the computer freezes or it will take a super long time to start up. any ideas. we have already tried putting the nic on pci 2 and 3. please shoot me as many ideas as you have. i installed it on 3 but the card didnt seem to work hmmmmm.
 
I'm assuming the overclock is stable? In other words,has your friend been running the system overclocked like that for some time, or was that just done?
 
Which version of Windows is your friend using? Also, have you checked for possible IRQ conflicts between the NIC and other devices? In my experience, sound cards and NIC's really don't get along using the same IRQ.
