Computer hardware:

AMD Athlon x2 3800+
ASRock 939DUAL-SATA2
AMD Radeon 4850
Western Digital Caviar 250
2x1gb Rosewill DDR400 @ 333, was having stability issues on higher levels
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Gamer Something Or Other

A bit of background:

I restructured my PC recently, transferring drives to another computer to serve as an HTPC. The old OS failed due to the subsequent NTLDR missing errors, so I decided to reinstall - it was getting a little old anyways.

Burned a copy of Windows XP SP3, installed it just fine. Finished installing a bunch of drivers, but the creative drivers gave me a bunch of errors. Whatever, sound was working and the PC was perfect. I shut off the PC for the night and when I woke up, it wasn't working at all. Froze on startup at the Windows XP screen. Froze through Last Known Good Configuration. Froze at Safe Mode.

Tried to reinstall with the Windows XP disc. It froze at "Starting windows" after the WinPE drivers were loaded. Tried burning a new disc and switching drives, no dice, neither of them worked. Tried an Ubuntu 8.10 disc, it froze during bootup too. I've not been on the desktop since. It POSTs readily every time and navigates around in the BIOS perfectly.

Anyone have any idea on what the hell is going wrong?

Never mind, guys, after a while it finally gave me a Machine Check Exception BSOD. I yanked an old USB card and now I'm posting from it. Cheers.
