Computer "freezes" for about 5-10 seconds then starts responding again, hardware or software problem?

I just installed an Epox nforce2 motherboard with a 1700+ and 512 MB of RAM on this computer, now every so often, the computer freezes momentarily, at completely random intervals. I can still move the mouse during this time but the computer doesn't respond to any keyboard or mouse commands.

I'm running windows xp nearly base install, I did a fresh when I put the mobo in. I think I've done sp1 updates so far on it.

I had this happen to me when on of my HDs was failing. **Click***freeze***CLICK***freeze. Dont know if it is the same problem as you are having though.

Bugbear virus can cause odd pauses.
