Computer freezes/doesn't post when vertical

All parts are brand new....

AMD XP 2100+ (Brown Chip)
Abit KD7A Mobo
256 DDR PC2100
Geforce 4 TI4200
USB 2.0 PCI Card (5 ports on card)

I've just put together a new system and it was working fine in my old crappy case, just got a new case with all sorts of led's and a cold cathode and put it all together.

As long as the case is on it's side, everything works perfect. I'm typing on the system fine, no worries. If I stand the system up vertically as it's supposed to be, the computer instantly freezes, then it won't even post.

It was reseting itself, posting, asking me how I wanted to boot to windows xp (safe mode, normal mode, etc) and then after I hit enter there it would reboot myself.... I swapped the power supply out (was a 400w that came with the case, i put in a 300w antec i bought from best buy a while back) and now it's just freezing/failing to post.

I've checked everything on the mobo, cannot find anywhere it could be shorting out, I'm at my wits end, this has been going on for 8 hours now and I'm about to go insane. I'm finally going to bed but have to work tomorrow till 4pm so I won't be able to troubleshoot any more till then.

If anyone has ideas, please share cuz I'm about to go crazy 🙁

PS I did unplug all the fan's/led's/cold cathode and removed the usb card, still does the same thing... I never stood the old tower vertical so I'm not sure if it would do the same thing in it. If there are no replies by tomorrow when I get off work I'll probably pull everthing apart and redo the whole thing from scratch :disgust:

Sounds like a problem with the HSF. Sometimes people won't install it perfectly, and it will slip off. That could be a reason that it's not posting.

I agree that the HSF would be the most likely, but maybe a vid card or something else is loose, check all connections?
