Computer Freeze

I'm not really sure where to post this but my computer has been randomly freezing a lot lately and it ONLY happens when I'm not moving my mouse. I can be using my computer for hours on end and it wont freeze but then I walk away for 15 min and it locks up on me. I really have no idea what is causing it, but it would be really nice if someone could help me or throw out some suggestions.

Thanks

A common cause of lockups ia cause by Heat so I would take the side of the Case off and clean it out esp the HS/Fan...ivent in a Can off air.

Yeah thats what I was thinking too but I find it funny that it "over heats" when I'm not using it. It would make more since if it froze when I was using it but as I said thats not the case.

Assuming windows 98/xp/whatevahs...

I had a similar problem about a year ago. Go into your Display/Screen Saver settings, set screen saver to (None), go into your energy star/Monitor power settings and set all to "(Never)".

If that solves it, move one by one backwards through them to see which setting is making your machine lock up. I had some overlap so I just leave all settings at "Never" and shut off my machine when I'm not using it.
