Alright, I tried to boot my computer after trying to apply a different heatsink and now its done for good. No screen. And according to the LED on my mobo, it doesnt get past the first boot up check which is memory. What the heck is going on? I have an athlon 64 and tried to re-attach my waterblock. Maybe I overtightened it but I really dont think thats the issue since there are springs preventing me from destorying my chip. My screwdriver did slip once and gave the mobo a good "bang" but this shouldnt be enough to kill the mobo... could it?!?!

SO its either the Mobo or the CPU. I have enough money to take my chances and replace one, what do you think was destroyed? oh btw, the CPU still produces heat so im not really sure if a dead chip still produces heat.

I've poked my MB quite a few times with a screwdriver and never hurt it. I didn't hit any components with it or anything though :) I don't think it would be your MB unless you really did some physical damage to it.

And just re-seat everything, reset the bios, plug in just 1 stick of ram the cpu, video, etc, etc, and all the other typical stuff that folks do when a system won't boot before you start buying new parts.

And as far as I know, a dead cpu does still produce heat (one that I had a long time ago did anyway).
