Let it dial up and make the connection. Now you know what is dialing! Now you can remove the program from your computer.
Can I ramble on for just a bit? As a casual observer from reading these posts for the past two or three years, I find it real hard to comprehend how someone with 73 post helping others or even asking questions could not figure this out.
Garbman, please do not take this to personally. We all get frustrated when our computers start acting up and we do all we can think of to find out why it is behaving the way it is. We get "to close" to the problem to realize how simple the fix is sometimes. In another thread I read today they were talking about the FAQ'S people not reading them before they post. Look at the number of posts I have made over the year or so since I signed up. That does not include the time before I signed up. Look at some of the people who have posted thousands of times. Sometimes their anwer to a problem is worse than the question asked in the first place.
The simple answer to your question though is as stated above. Why tolorate any program that wants to take control of your computer? Let it make the connection and then "REMOVE THE OFFENDING BUGER" There are to many software packages available that will not call home and will accomplish the same task. Probably utilize a lot less of your computers resources in the process.
