computer desk mod help needed

i just bought computer desk few weeks ago that has enclosure for the tower to set in with door on it. well no air can get in there even with the door open, i am looking for suggestions on some mods i could make to improve the airflow into the enclosure. thanx for your tips in advance

How about attacking the cabinet with a doorknob-size hole saw and adding a couple fans? You could add a 12-volt 60mm fan to the floor of the compartment and one to the upper rear. 60mm fans are available in a wide range of power/noise levels ranging from near-inaudible to very powerful.

For another idea, you cold get a desktop case and put your computer under your monitor. Desktop cases aren't known for running super-cool but at least it won't be in an oven.

I would cut the back of the compartment completly out and either drill some vent holes or cut some vent slots in the front door.

You could install and fan in the door and make it look all nice.

Hack the back of it. I would cut at least a 120mm fan hole in the top of the back. Try to put it at a hight it would suck the air from the PS/Rear exhaust is. If your tower sites foward a little then install the rear fan just above where the PS exhaust is. Then put a filter in the bottom of the rear. This would exaust the air from the tower quickly and provide clean air for a dust free environment.

For me, i would use a 120v fan on the back. Then wire a plug on it(be extremely careful to make sure the plug is securly fastened and no bare wires are showing!!) to run off of my surge protector switch thingy that sits under my monitor. It has buttons to turn off different components connected or not connected to the computer.

Also for safety put a grill on both the fron and back of the fan. This will protect you and anyone else from loosing fingers.

I would cut out the back and put a fan back there. I wouldn't hack up the front as it's a brand-new desk and it probably wouldn't be the most eye-pleasing...=)

well there are already 2 holes in the back for wires to go through, where would i get fan that would not be to heavy for that thin wafer board but throws enough air?

Cut some holes in it, install PC case fans, with mesh filters (so it does not look to tacky), wire up the fans to an old PSU and set up a switch for that. This way you can turn on the fans as you please.
