Computer desk ideas

I'm using one of those cheap 7ft. folding tables I got from Staples for about $40 on sale... I've been using it for about 8 years now.

It's ugly, but it easily fits two computers with tons of room, and they're deep.
(Even though I've upgraded to flat screens, it's still great having depth. )

I will say that my 4 year old son (at the time) jumped directly on the middle of it a couple years back, and it has the slightest bow down the middle. If you keep your kids from diving onto it, you will have no problems. 🙂

Not bad... I kind of like the jerker table from ikea.. Anyone have one of these?

I don't have much experience with Ikea, only bought one kids desk from them several years ago and it fell apart. The Staples one looks similar but much sturdier - I think it's bigger too but the dimensions are confusing. Can't tell from the pictures though.... I would definitely want to see it before I bought it.

I'm curious as to what you decided on. I too am looking for a computer workstation that is just flat.

As to your question about the Jerker, it is pretty cool. I had one once for about it week. It was very sturdy but the one thing that bugged me was that it was 35" deep (which is pretty deep when you consider I have a flat panel monitor. Lots of wasted space so I returned it. If you've got an older, bigger CRT then this one is perfect.

I just went to lowes and bought a solid wood door for 10 bucks (it had some chips on one side), and it's perfect for a computer table. I staind it, so it looks nice. I'll post pics if you want to see how it can turn out.

I have a really nice solid oak desk that my parents put in storage. They bought it for $2000 or so. I had to make some modifcations (cut off the back panel, cut some holes), but its a nice desk.

2k is out of his 50 dollar range lol

Hey all,

I'm looking for a good place to pick up a computer desk.

Mostly, I just want a large flat surface, similar to a kitchen table, but deep enough to fit a 19" CRT.

Looking to spend under $50 if possible.

Suggestions on where to get good cheap tables / desks?

I have 2x19" CRT [Compaq P900's] 2 Towers all on the table... its a folding table... its been this way for over 2 years or so now? [towers have changed 😛] but a folding table that is a quality one should be more than enough... nice... and flat... and solid! woot.
