Computer Crashing

Hi
Here's my info

AMD athlon 3000+
1gig of ram
Brand New V9570 TD Nvidia card 256mb
Asus A7n8x Motherboard

I've had troubles for awhile now with my computer crashing out of game andcompletely rebooting. I thought I had video card troubles and purchased a new card two days ago. I've installed the latest drivers after using a driver cleaner but having the same results as the old card..

I went into the bios and check the cpu temp and it's running at 46c/116f after being on for 6 hours or more.

I had completely reinstalled windows about 2 monthes ago but have had troubles longer then that..
I believe I'm running the latest Directx....

Any ideas what might be wrong?

sounds like memory, heat, or power issue. What size/type of powersupply to do you have installed?

Sounds like it could be the PSU. If it is not rated high enough, you could be really max'ing it out during intensive MMORPGS action.

Remember that with those types of games, you have network, video, HDD action all going at once, and a PSU not big enough will fail to deliver the needed voltage!

With an AMD 3000+ rig, I would recommend at least a 350watt BRAND name PSU, or a 400watt off-brand one!

I would say it's the PSU crapping out on you. Otherwise it could be memory related (although I doubt it if you're doing zero overclocking).

Agreed, more than likely it's your power supply. There's an incredible number of crappy PSU's on the market. Sadly, most buyers just look at the wattage and that's NOT a good indicator of quality.

Thanks for the replies...

I'll check into the PSU and see..

The computer crashes 1 to 5 minutes into a session but it looks pretty dirty so I'm guessing thats it..

Thanks Folks
